The City of Santa Cruz is hiring for Water Treatment Operator II/III/IV in the Water Production Division of the Water Department. Our system includes the Graham Hill Water Treatment Plant, which can process up to 16 million gallons of water per day and is the only conventional water treatment plant in the Monterey Bay. The Water Production Section operates and maintains water storage, diversion, collection, pumping, and treatment facilities from all sources throughout the system. Under general supervision, the Water Treatment Operator classifications perform a variety of skilled tasks in the operation, inspection, and maintenance of the City’s water treatment plants and related facilities. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or tested equivalent; completion of one 3-unit (or one 36-hour) course of specialized training as designated by the State Water Resources Control Board covering the fundamentals of drinking water treatment; a valid Water Treatment Operator II, III, or IV certification; and a valid California driver’s license.
