Water System Operator I / II
Pay Scale
$35.14 to $49.62 hourly
Minimum Licenses.
Grade 1 Distribution (D1), Grade 1 Treatment (T1) within six month, Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester within six months, California Driver’s License.
Minimum Experience
One year operating a water utility or Two years underground construction.
Typical Responsibilities
· Operate, maintain, and support the District’s water system and related equipment.
· Perform water quality testing and assist with regulatory reporting requirements.
· Support construction and maintenance work, including trenching, pipe repair, laying pipe, and backfilling.
· Install and maintain pumps, valves, mains, services, meters, and other distribution facilities.
· Operate vehicles and equipment such as pumps, a vacuum trailer, backhoe, and dump truck.
· Read meters, restore or disconnect services, and help resolve customer service issues.
· Use construction tools and machinery safely while performing sustained manual work and lifting heavy objects.
· Respond to rotating on-call and emergency assignments and be able to arrive on site within 45 minutes.
