THE POSITION:

The ideal candidate for the Water Reclamation Plant Operator III position will be an individual who has training and experience in wastewater treatment processes, demonstrating the ability to identify and resolve operational issues while making recommendations for improvements. The ideal candidate should be able to interpret lab data and analyze SCADA trends to implement process changes and suggestions to the Water Reclamation Supervisor, along with the capability to perform minor maintenance tasks. The candidate should be a team player who can work independently on weekends and be available for on-call and after-hours situations. The candidate should hold a Grade II Wastewater Plant Operator Certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board with the ability to obtain a Grade III Wastewater Plant Operator Certificate within 18 months of employment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities isqualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Water Reclamation Plant Operator II

Education/Training:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college level course work ortrade school training in wastewater treatment technology.

Experience:

Two years of experience in the operation of water reclamation plant facilities, equipment, and systemscomparable to a Water Reclamation Plant Operator I with the City of Camarillo.

License or Certificate:

Possession of a Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate issued by theCalifornia State Water Resources Control Board. Ability to obtain a Grade III Wastewater Treatment Plant OperatorCertificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board within 18 months of appointment to the “II”level. Possession of a valid California driver’s license at a level appropriate to the equipment operated.

Water Reclamation Plant Operator III

Education/Training:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college level course work ortrade school training in wastewater treatment technology.

Experience:

Three years of experience in the operation of water reclamation plant facilities, equipment, and systemsincluding two years of experience comparable to a Water Reclamation Plant Operator II with the City of Camarillo.

License or Certificate:

Possession of a Grade III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate issued by theCalifornia State Water Resources Control Board. Possession of a valid California driver’s license at a level appropriate tothe equipment operated.
