The City of Camarillo is seeking a skilled and dedicated Water Reclamation Plant Mechanic II to join our Water Reclamation Division team. We are recruiting to fill one vacancy and are looking for candidates with a strong mechanical and electrical background who are eager to support the operation and maintenance of the City’s water reclamation facilities.

About the Opportunity

The ideal candidate for the position of Water Reclamation Plant Mechanic II will be an individual who can perform the installation and maintenance of pumps, motors, valves, piping/conduit, and other mechanical equipment at a journey level. The candidate selected will work in the city’s Water Reclamation Plant as well as several pump stations throughout the city. The ideal candidate should be able to utilize power and hand tools, electrical testing devices, welding and fabrication equipment, and possess the ability to work safely in an industrial environment. It is desirable for the candidate to have some experience with equipment at a wastewater treatment plant or similar industrial facility.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be considered qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/TrainingEquivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized course work or training in the installation, maintenance, and repair of reclamation plant facilities and equipment.

ExperienceTwo years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water reclamation systems, including electrical/instrumentation equipment, comparable to a Water Reclamation Plant Mechanic I with the City of Camarillo.

License or CertificatePossession of a Grade II Mechanical Technologist certificate issued by the California Water Environment Association. Possession of a valid California driver’s license at a level appropriate to the equipment operated. Possession a Grade I Electrical/Instrumentation Technologist certificate issued by the California Water Environment Association is highly desirable.
