WATER QUALITY MAINTENANCE WORKER II/WATER QUALITY MECHANIC
Water Quality Mechanic: $37.668 – $48.079 per hour, DOQ, plus excellent benefits
Water Quality Maintenance Worker II: $31.767 – $40.543 per hour, DOQ, plus excellent benefits
Note: The Water Quality Mechanic position may be eligible for stand-by pay in addition to the salary range listed. Stand-by pay for this classification, while not guaranteed in any amount, may potentially include up to an additional $8,500 per year in compensation. Average overtime, while also not guaranteed in any amount, averages an additional $5,200 annually. Additional compensation for both positions includes a $250 annual boot stipend, 2.5% longevity pay at 10 years of service, and an additional 2.5% longevity pay at 15 years of service. We also offer a generous benefits package which includes the option of nine (9) different CalPERS health plans, including one plan with no monthly employee cost to cover a full family.
PCWA is seeking an engaged individual to join its Field Services department as a journey-level treatment plant mechanic or maintenance worker! The Water Quality Mechanic position will independently perform mechanical and minor electrical repairs to Drinking Water Operations assets within treatment plants, pump stations, pressure regulating stations and other power-driven equipment within Drinking Water Operations facilities; and, to weld and fabricate metal work. The ideal candidate will possess progressively responsible journey-level experience in the maintenance of water treatment plant equipment, pumping stations, hydroelectric equipment up to 150 kW, or other related power-driven equipment. Possession of a valid California State Water Resources Control Board Treatment Operators Certificate, Grade 2 and a Water Distribution Operators Certificate, Grade 1 are required within 18 months of hiring. Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in welding or mechanical, electrical or diesel maintenance is highly desired.
The Water Quality Maintenance Worker II position will assist in the installation, repair and maintenance of treatment plant facilities and equipment; to assist Agency staff in performing mechanical repairs to treatment plants, pumping plants, and pressure regulating stations; and to perform general construction and maintenance duties. This position requires one year of journeyman level experience in the maintenance and repair of treatment plants, pumping stations and equipment. Possession of a valid California State Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution or Treatment Operators Certificate, Grade 2 is required within 18 months of hiring.
