Minimum Qualifications

Experience and Training

Experience:

  • Four years of increasingly responsible experience in water distribution system construction and maintenance activities, including one year of lead responsibility.

 AND

Training:

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th), GED, or higher level degree grade supplemented by college course work in construction technology, environmental practices, water specialties or a related field.

License or Certificate

  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license by date of appointment. 
  • Possession of a Water Distribution Operator Grade 3 (D3) certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health by date of appointment.
  • A Water Distribution Operator Grade 4 (D4) certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health must be obtained within one year of date of appointment.
  • Possession of a Water Treatment Operator Grade II certificate issued by Department of Public Health is desirable.
