Join our dynamic team as a Water Distribution Operator-in-Training, II, or III, and embark on a rewarding career with the City of Santa Cruz in water system management. The current vacancies are for Water Distribution Operator-in-Training/II/III in the Water Distribution Division with the Water Department. Under supervision, this position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled assignments in the construction, maintenance, and repair of City water distribution systems, streets and sidewalks; and performs related work as assigned. The Operator-in-Training position requires a high school diploma or tested equivalent, six months of manual labor experience, and a valid California Class C driver’s license at the time of hire. A Class A driver’s license will be required to obtain within 12 months of appointment. The Water Distribution Operator II and III positions require a D2, or D3 Water Distribution Operator certification issued by the State Water Resources Control Board, with additional experience required for the Level III position.
