Position Overview
The City of San José’s Environmental Services Department is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Wastewater Chief Plant Operator. In this critical position, you will oversee the operations of the San José-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility (RWF), ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while contributing to the city’s sustainability goals.
- Key Responsibilities:Provide strategic leadership in planning and organizing operational activities, including direct supervision of staff.
- Manage special projects and strategic planning initiatives defined by the Facility General Manager.
- Ensure compliance with air emissions permits and wastewater discharge regulations.
- Oversee asset management and engineering support functions.
- Collaborate closely with the Division Manager of Operations to troubleshoot issues and provide leadership during emergency situations.
- Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Six (6) years of supervisory or management experience at a wastewater facility, including at least three (3) years of experience supervising more than 20 full-time employees.
- Grade V Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification in the State of California.
