JOB OPENING ANNOUNCEMENT

Utility Operator II / Utility Operator I

We are currently hiring for a regular, full-time Utility Operator II or Utility Operator I position. Both positions normally work under the direct supervision of the Water Supervisor.

SCOPE OF WORK

In general, the incumbent will operate and maintain the District water system including the treatment plant, collection, storage, and distribution facilities; assists with onsite wastewater program inspections; prepares reports for regulatory agencies; and performs chemical tests for water quality.

POSITION STATUS

Both positions are non-exempt, and therefore eligible for overtime, as well as serve on the District’s standby rotation, and are occasionally scheduled to perform after-hours and weekend work. Both positions are also designated as a Disaster Service Worker and may be called upon to support the activities of the District during an emergency.

SALARY RANGE

The salary ranges in Fiscal Year 2025-2026 for the Utility Operator I position is $80,273 – $128,438 per year, and for the Utility Operator II position is $114,792 – $183,666 per year. Placement within these ranges is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
