Survey Technician

JOIN THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY WATER AUTHORITY

The San Diego County Water Authority is seeking a Survey Technician to support the design, construction, and management of regional water facilities. The Survey Technician performs field surveys, technical calculations, and drafting work to support planning, design, and construction projects. This position identifies project requirements, determines which survey records and maps are needed, prepares field packages, conducts field surveys, and organizes all documentation for project closeout.

The Survey Technician conducts topographic surveys, supports right-of-way and property boundary work, assists with drone survey operations, and produces accurate topographic maps and survey drawings using CAD software.

Ideal Candidate

• Detail-oriented surveying professional with strong field and office skills
• Experience with GPS, total stations, data collectors, and CAD drafting
• Comfortable working independently in the field and analytically in the office
• Strong communicator committed to accuracy, safety, and teamwork

Work Schedule

• 9/80 schedule at the Kearny Mesa office (every other Friday off)

Qualification Guidelines

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college level course work in civil engineering drafting and surveying, engineering mathematics or related fields; and two years of responsible sub professional surveying experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licenses and Other Requirements

A valid California driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Water Authority’s Vehicle Insurance Policy.
