Santa Margarita Water District is seeking a dependable and team-oriented Service Worker to support essential field, facility, and logistics operations across the District. This entry-level role is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on work, variety in their day, and being part of a team that keeps critical water and wastewater services running smoothly.

From supporting field crews to helping manage materials and deliveries, this position plays an important behind-the-scenes role in ensuring operations stay efficient, organized, and ready to respond.

About the Role

Under general supervision, the Service Worker performs a wide range of routine support duties across warehouse, facilities, and field operations. This includes assisting with shipping and receiving, delivering equipment and materials, supporting maintenance tasks, and helping crews and contractors in the field.

This is an entry-level position designed to provide exposure to District operations, with opportunities to learn new skills and grow within the organization. Work is performed following established procedures and schedules, with guidance from supervisors and experienced staff.

What You Will Do

• Receive, inspect, and document incoming shipments and materials
• Process purchase orders and maintain accurate inventory and records
• Deliver tools, equipment, and supplies to field crews and District facilities
• Assist with warehouse organization, inventory tracking, and logistics support
• Perform basic maintenance tasks such as painting, landscaping, and site cleanup
• Support HVAC, plumbing, and other contractors with on-site coordination
• Assist field crews and administrative staff with a variety of operational needs
• Operate District vehicles and equipment safely

Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED and some experience in general labor, maintenance, warehouse, or field support work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
