Senior Engineer
JCSD is seeking a skilled Senior Engineer to help plan, design, and deliver essential infrastructure that serves our growing community. JOB DESCRIPTION
Under general direction, leads, oversees, reviews, and participates in the work of staff performing professional engineering work related to development and capital improvement engineering project oversight for water, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure; manages development and capital improvement projects through all aspects of planning, design, construction, inspection, observation, and project close-out; additional duties may include:
- Assist in developing and implementing goals, objectives, practices, policies, procedures, and work standards.
- Oversee and administer development and CIP through completion, on time and within budget.
- Effectively provide staff leadership and work direction.
- Conduct complex engineering research projects and studies, analyze complex problems, evaluate alternatives, make sound recommendations, and prepare effective technical staff reports.
- Prepare, analyze, understand, and interpret engineering construction plans, specifications, and other contract documents, and determine conformance with applicable laws and standards.
- Recognize discrepancies from “as-built” to contract specifications and recommend reconciliation.
- Make engineering design computations and checks, design, and prepare engineering plans and studies.
- Understand, interpret, and apply all pertinent laws, codes, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards relative to the work performed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in professional engineering design, plan review, and project administration.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment.
- Possession of a valid registration as a Professional Engineer issued by the State of California, to be maintained throughout employment.
