Operations & Maintenance Supervisor – Maintenance Supervisor (Plants & Equipment), East County

Contra Costa Water District’s Operations & Maintenance department is seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Maintenance Supervisor to lead our East County Maintenance section. This is a key leadership role that oversees the planning, scheduling, and supervision of plants and equipment maintenance activities in support of CCWD’s treatment and distribution systems. The position encompasses both field maintenance and water treatment plant maintenance, supervising staff across all three core skill crafts. The ideal candidate brings strong foundational knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines, along with proven experience supervising maintenance teams and coordinating complex work programs.

Under general direction, plans, schedules, assigns, reviews, and supervises the work of staff responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of the District’s water treatment plants, treated and raw water distribution systems, and storage systems, facilities, fleet, computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and equipment; ensures compliance with District water service requirements and federal, state, and local laws governing the protection of public water supply; coordinates assigned activities and projects with other District staff, contractors, and external organizations; and performs related duties as assigned.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college coursework in chemistry, electrical, mechanical, waterworks and/or construction technology, or related field.

Experience: Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in water system operation and/or in the installation, construction, repair, and maintenance of water systems, including two (2) years of lead or supervisory experience.

Licenses and Certifications: 

  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license to be maintained throughout employment.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Grade D3 Water Distribution Operator certificate issued by the State Water Resources Control Board.
