Fleet & Facilities Crew Leader

JOB DESCRIPTION
Under direction, leads, oversees, reviews, and participates in the work of staff performing repair and maintenance for district vehicles, equipment, buildings, and facilities; assigns service calls; and performs related duties as assigned.
- Leads, oversees, reviews, and participates in the work of staff performing repair and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, buildings, and facilities District-wide; assumes responsibility for the workflow of an assigned work unit by making work assignments, ensuring work is consistent with quality standards and timeline expectations are met.
- Performs the more complex work assignments for the classification series for which there are little or no directly related policies, procedures, or past practice which requires the exercise of independent judgment and discretion in establishing work plans, identifying resources, and completing assignments.
- Provides input for personnel decisions such as performance evaluations, promotions, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
- Leads and performs skilled tasks involved in the repair and maintenance of a wide range of vehicles (gas or diesel engines), including electric vehicles and equipment (light and heavy duty).
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by specialized training in vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair, construction maintenance and inspection, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in building maintenance and repair, vehicle maintenance, service, and repair, or three (3) years of experience equivalent to a Fleet & Facilities Technician II at the Jurupa Community Services District.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment.
- Possession of, or successful acquisition within twelve (12) months of appointment, a valid California Class “A” Driver’s License with required endorsements, to be maintained throughout employment.
- Possession of, or successful acquisition within twelve (12) months of appointment, valid CPR/First Aid/AED Certifications, to be maintained throughout employment.
- Possession of, or successful acquisition within twelve (12) months of appointment, a valid District-provided Forklift Operator Certification, to be maintained throughout employment.
- Possession of three (3) valid Certificates from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) as both a Certified Automotive/Light Truck and Medium/Heavy Truck Technician, to be maintained throughout employment.
- Possession of, or successful acquisition within twelve (12) months of appointment, valid EPA Section 609 and 608 Universal Certifications, to be maintained throughout employment.
