GENERAL PURPOSE
Under direction of the Operations and Maintenance Manager, oversees and performs a variety of hands-on tasks to maintain and repair buildings and grounds, handling both routine upkeep and skilled maintenance work; coordinates outside services with vendors; manages inventory, receives, stores and distributes materials and equipment at the District’s warehouse; oversees the vehicle fleet maintenance and meter testing, and other job-related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities are listed below:
1. Maintains and performs the routine maintenance duties and recommends maintenance services for the District’s buildings, including janitorial services, yard and warehouse equipment and supplies, gym equipment and other facility services directed; coordinates outside services with vendors; maintains warehouse and yard, keeping them in a clean, neat, and orderly condition.
2. Oversees the District’s fuel station and vehicle fleet maintenance and coordination, including verifying vehicle inspection forms are completed, safety equipment is stocked, recommending maintenance and services to be performed on vehicles when needed and keeping track of vehicle safety recalls.
3. Prepares purchase orders and requisitions; receives, inspects, counts, and stores materials and supplies; performs periodic inventory, and maintains records of warehouse equipment and supplies; prepares disbursement reports of inventory supplies.
4. Drives a District vehicle to meet with vendors and obtain necessary supplies for the maintenance operation of the District; operates a forklift for loading and unloading District equipment, materials, and supplies.
5. Uses a computer and District computer programs to manage ordering and inventory levels, and maintains records of materials, tools, and supplies; manages and codes invoices for services and supplies.
6. Conducts and oversees the District’s meter testing program, operates meter test stand, contracts out large meter testing, performs tasks related to, repair and replacement of meters, registers, and meter boxes. Keeps records of meter testing and replacement; oversees the construction meter program.
7. Assists with the maintenance and operation of the security program for District headquarters (including opening, closing, monitoring the alarm system, and coordinating with the District’s alarm company vendor); maintain security lighting at all District facilities.
8. Oversees landscape maintenance contract work and may perform duties in the maintenance of all landscaped areas, including trees, shrubs, lawns, and related plans at the District administrative headquarters and other District facilities.
9. Maintains regular and timely attendance.
OTHER DUTIES

1. Assists in coordination of setup and take down of District meetings and events.
2. Periodically assists the Utility Service Supervisor and the Operations Department as needed.
3. Assists with management of District facility keys.
4. May take direction from staff in other departments.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
1. Methods used in receiving, inspecting, and storing materials and equipment.
2. Water delivery and distribution systems.
3. Inventory control methods.
4. Operation of computerized inventory systems.
5. Computer systems, including Microsoft Suite and inventory maintenance programs.
6. Basic use of power tools, materials, and equipment.
7. Proper work safety standards.
8. Basic mathematics.
Ability to:
1. Perform a variety of receiving, storage, and material distribution assignments at a centralized warehouse.
2. Safely operate motor vehicles, forklifts, and warehouse equipment.
3. Operate hand and power tools and equipment.
4. Effectively use various computer software programs, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
5. Order supplies and parts, maintaining adequate inventory.
6. Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records and reports.
7. Updates and maintains inventory records.
8. Communicate professionally, respectfully, and knowledgeably with District employees and the general public.
9. Understand, apply, and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and District policies and procedures; practice safe work habits.
10. Understand and follow oral and written instructions in English to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing.
11. Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Training and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
1. Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent;
2. Three (3) years of experience in warehouse and stock control, general mechanical, or construction tasks.
3. One (1) year of General office skills.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
1. Possession of a valid California class C driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
2. Forklift Certification or ability to obtain a certification within 6 months of employment.
3. Possession of a California Water Distribution Operator Grade 1 Certificate.
4. Possession of a California Water Treatment Operator Grade 1 Certificate.

1. Employees work in the field and are exposed to cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, loud noise levels, vibration, confined workspaces, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes.
2. Irregular or extended work hours: May work overtime.
