Rancho California Water District is currently seeking a well-qualified candidate to fill an Engineering Manager position. 

Salary: Beginning 07/01/2025, the salary range for the Engineering Manager will be $164,073-216,296 due to a 2.5% COLA increase.

As a key member of the team, you’ll have a leadership role amongst 20 full-time professionals dedicated to delivering reliable, high-quality water, wastewater, and reclamation services. The department’s scope includes planning, design, project and construction management, inspection, and developer coordination. You’ll play a critical role in managing nearly $300 million in capital improvements over the next five years—including the highly anticipated $130 million Vail Dam Replacement Project, set to begin construction in 2026. This is an exceptional opportunity for a goal-driven, people-first leader ready to work in tandem with the Director to lead a high-performing team to advance the District’s mission and shape Southern California’s water future.

The District proudly serves a dynamic and growing region of 160,000 residents across 100,000 acres, including Temecula, Murrieta, and surrounding communities. The District is well resourced and uniquely positioned to leverage a diverse operating portfolio consisting of a thriving Groundwater Basin, Treated and Untreated Import Supply, as well as administering the Santa Rosa Regional Resource Authority regionally managing wastewater in partnership with other agencies. Major upcoming initiatives include maximizing the nearly 50,000AF of storage in Vail Lake in combination with the expansion of the Groundwater Basin to reduce reliance on treated imported water.

Work Schedule…

All full-time employees work a 9/80 schedule. Eligible employees may work a hybrid schedule, as determined by department needs.

Qualification Guidelines…

The appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities can be achieved through a variety of combinations of experience and training. A typical example is:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering (or other related field) 
  • Seven (7) or more years of increasingly responsible engineering experience
  • Three (3) or more years of professional project management or supervisory experience
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer issued by the State of California Board for Professional and Land Surveyors.
