SALARY RANGE

$4,954 – $6,652 Monthly

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under immediate (Customer Service Representative I) to general (Customer Service Representative II) supervision, performs routine to complex customer service, account processing, plan review, and recordkeeping functions in support of District customers; maintains frequent contact with the public and customers of the District to provide support for billing service questions; opens, closes, maintains, and reconciles customer files and accounts; processes payments and records account activities; and performs related duties as assigned. Positions at the Customer Service Representative I-level may perform some of these duties and responsibilities in a learning capacity.

  • Serves as a representative and provides information and assistance to the public, member agencies, and outside entities; screens mail, email, phone calls, and visitors; provides information and assistance requiring a thorough knowledge of utility billing and programs; provides information regarding policies, procedures, and operational details.
  • Maintains customer data and records by setting up new accounts, closing accounts, and posting payments, adjustments, and deposits to customer accounts; verifies, balances, and reconciles payments; batches payments; reviews and validates accuracy of data; produces data and/or reports as requested.
  • Processes return payments; monitors and tracks delinquent accounts and outstanding payment plans to ensure proper processing; updates customer account demographics.
  • Receives and responds to inquiries and complaints from customers, staff, and the general public; researches complaints and issues and/or resolves or refers to appropriate staff for resolution.
  • Prepares correspondence to utility customers; maintains new and/or inactive utility accounts; processes utility transfers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
  • Customer Service Representative I – One (1) year of clerical, customer service, or accounting experience.
  • Customer Service Representative II – Three (3) years of increasingly responsible clerical, customer service, or accounting experience.
