POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Montecito Sanitary District is seeking qualified candidates to fill a position in Collection System Maintenance. Candidates may be appointed at the Collections Operator-In-Training through Collections IV level, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and the needs of the District. The salary ranges for these positions are as follows:

Collections Operator-In-Training: $58,016.19 – $70,549.23

Collections Operator I: $72,156.03 – $87,688.43

Collections Operator II: $79,354.50 – $96,429.42

Collections Operator III: $88,952.45 – $108,126.93

Collections Operator IV: $98,036.22 – $119,160.29

DUTIES:

The job requires working outside in contact with sewage and roadway traffic in all weather conditions. Applicants for this position must:

·        Be physically capable of lifting 100 lbs. frequently throughout an 8 hour shift, including lifting sewer manhole covers, heavy tools, and equipment

·        Have the ability to prioritize, organize, solve problems, and complete tasks independently

·        Be able to stand, walk, climb, crouch and meet all the physical demands of the District’s job requirements

·        Have the ability to use, or be trained to use, a wide variety of tools and equipment

·        Perform routine sewer lift station maintenance, operation of a pickup truck, water truck, Combination Cleaner and CCTV inspection van

·        Have the ability to provide customer service by addressing concerns such as odors, private sewer lateral or cleanout issues

·        Demonstrate an ability to work cooperatively and productively as a member of a team

·        Possess or obtain a valid California Class B driver’s license with tanker endorsement within 6 months of hire.  

·        Have a minimum of a high school diploma

·        Reside within a 45-minute travel time to the District for emergency response purposes

·        Possess the appropriate level CWEA Certification for the position grade

·        Enrollment in the DATCO DOT Program

The Montecito Sanitary District offers a competitive benefits package:

 Vacation:                   Accrue up to 20 days annually, based on prior experience and length of service.

Sick Leave:                Accrue 8 hours per month, 120 days maximum accrual.

Personal Leave:         Accrue 8 hours per quarter, 6 days maximum accrual.

Holidays:                    Ten paid holidays.

Medical Insurance:   District contributes up to $1,810 monthly towards coverage for Medical and Dental benefit premiums and offers Anthem Blue Cross PPO and HMO plans.

Dental Insurance:      District offers Delta Dental PPO, and contributes toward premium, see above.

Life Insurance:          District paid policy at $50,000

Vision:                        District pays for employee vision care

Disability:                   District does not participate in State Disability Insurance (SDI). 

Short and Long-Term Disability Insurance coverage begins after 60 days following an illness/disability; Long-Term Disability begins after 180 days.

Retirement:                CalPERS Classic plan is 2% @ 55

CalPERS PEPRA plan is 2% @ 62

Social Security:          The District does participate in Social Security.

Deferred Comp:        Deferred Compensation (457) plans are available for employee contributions. The District does not match any contributions.
