Under general supervision of the District Engineer, this position performs a wide variety of civil engineering work related to the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the District’s wastewater treatment plant and related facilities and performs a variety of studies and prepares and presents technical and staff reports, and performs related work as assigned.

This is the entry-level classification in the professional engineering series. Incumbents perform the less difficult and complex tasks in the field of civil engineering. Incumbents require possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, a successful incumbent must possess both education and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and abilities. Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil, mechanical, environmental, sanitary, or a closely related engineering discipline.

AND

One year of experience in a water treatment or wastewater treatment setting is desirable.

Government agency work experience is preferred.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS

May need to possess a valid California Driver’s License as required by the position. Proof of adequate vehicle insurance and medical clearance may also be required.AND

Possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training Certificate issued by the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.
