The Water Facilities Authority (Authority) owns and operates an 81 MGD conventional water treatment facility that treats imported State Project Water, located in Upland, California. The Authority is currently seeking an Operator to join our team. Initially, the Operator will work under close supervision while acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge. As proficiency is gained and familiarity with procedures and processes increases, the Operator will progressively assume more responsibility and perform a diverse range of duties as assigned. EOE
Position
This is the entry level in the Operator series. Positions in this class typically have limited work experience and do not possess the level of certification to operate the plant independently. Performs a full range of water treatment, maintenance and emergency response duties for an 81 MGD conventional surface water treatment plant, laboratory and related distribution facilities. Participation in HAZWOPER team and SCBA use. Operators will work a regular day shift (4/10) and will eventually be required to work standby rotations, and occasionally be required to work weekends, holidays, and OT when necessary. Standby duty requires 30 minutes or less response arrival time to treatment plant.
Requirements
Operator II – High School diploma or equivalent; AND three years of experience as a certified water treatment operator; AND California T2 Water Treatment and D2 Water Distribution Operator Certifications and an ability to obtain a Water Treatment Operator Grade 3 and Water Distribution Operator Grade 3 within 12 months of hire; AND valid California Class C Driver License with current DMV printout; must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and hazmat physical.
