Under general direction, the Transmission Planning Engineer will work with Hetch Hetchy Water & Power’s Operations Engineering and Outage Coordination teams with daily/real-time, seasonal, and as-needed studies. Moccasin is located 140 miles east of the San Francisco Bay Area and requires a 5-hour round trip commute by car in fair weather.

Essential Duties:

– Review and submit base case review change files and comments (e.g., Seasonal Studies).

– Select seed cases and update for next-day, real-time, or seasonal study to reflect the projected system configuration for the study period.

– Develop / Update contingency lists.

– Run steady-state and transient stability for next-day, real-time, or seasonal study using the base case and troubleshoot any issues per NERC standards and CAISO requirements.

– Create and coordinate operating plans and Standard Operating Procedures.

– Participate in coordination of and assist in developing operating plans with external entities.

– Develop and maintain RTCA, outage, Load and Generation, Generation Limitation spreadsheets, documentation, and communication to appropriate parties.

– Acquire and maintain an awareness of HHWP’s System Operational Limits.

– Provide technical training to Power System Operators on operating procedures and tools.
