Located just 15 minutes from beautiful Lake Tahoe, California, the Truckee Sanitary District (TSD) is an award winning wastewater collections-only public agency. TSD is seeking qualified applicants committed to TSD’s core values of teamwork, communication, customer service, and safety to supervise it’s mechanical and electrical crew responsible for the operation and maintenance of sewer pump stations and building mechanical and electrical equipment. Under general supervision, this position plans, organizes, directs, oversees, and personally performs a full-range of skilled-level work in support of District buildings and wastewater collection system mechanical and electrical facilities, including installation, inspection, preventive and corrective maintenance, and repair activities; ensures that all Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements are met; and performs other duties as assigned.

 Ideal Candidate will have knowledge of:

 Ø Principles and practices of employee supervision, including work planning, assignment, review and evaluation, and the training of staff in work procedures.

Ø Principles, practices, tools, equipment, and supplies required to maintain and repair wastewater collection systems pumping/lift stations.

Ø Basic principles and practices of mobile equipment servicing and repair.

Ø Techniques for troubleshooting complex equipment problems, including telemetry, and for estimating staff time, materials, and equipment required for repair.

Ø Basic operational and maintenance practices of electrical motors, pumps, and circuitry.

Ø Safety principles, practices, procedures, and equipment related to the work.

Ø Principles and practices of public agency contract oversight.

Ø Modern office practices, methods, and computer equipment and applications, including work order and mapping software.

Ø Techniques for providing a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with the public, vendors, contractors, and City staff.


High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum five (5) years of experience maintaining mechanical and electrical facilities and/or equipment like that utilized in wastewater collection systems. Education or coursework in leadership and previous lead and/or supervisory experience is highly desirable.  

 The following certifications are desired. The District will entertain alternative certifications, experience, or education in lieu of CWEA certifications.

  • CWEA Grade III Collection System Maintenance Certificate
  • CWEA Grade I Mechanical Technologist Certificate
  • CWEA Grade II Electrical/Instrumentation Technologist Certificate

 Wage scale:

57.32 – 71.43 hourly (non-exempt)


 *104 hours of vacation leave per year
