MAINTENANCE MECHANIC II

The Maintenance Mechanic II classification performs mechanical equipment servicing and maintenance major repair work on District wastewater treatment, recycled water, and resources recovery facilities and systems.

QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications for this position include a combination of training and experience which demonstrates that a person has obtained the required knowledge and is able to perform the required work (with reasonable accommodation, if needed). An individual with the following combined training and experience would typically qualify to compete in a selection process:

•             Education: High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by vocational or technical school and training in mechanical equipment maintenance and repair.

•             Experience: Three (3) years experience servicing, overhauling, repairing, and installing heavy equipment and machinery used in hydraulic and chemical processing plants comparable to Delta Diablo.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS:

•             A valid California State Class C license must always be maintained.

•             A valid CWEA Mechanical Technologist Grade I certification must be obtained within one (1) year of appointment or hire; a valid CWEA Mechanical Technologist Grade II certification must be obtained within two (2) years of appointment or hire.

•             A valid CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within one (1) year of employment and maintained throughout employment with the District.

7.           List any other trade certifications you possess that are related to this position.

8.           I understand that by submission of my application for this position, I acknowledge that I must, as outlined below, obtain, and maintain the following certifications for the duration of my employment:

•             A valid California Class C Driver’s License is required during employment with the District.

•             A valid California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Mechanical Technologist certification (Grade I) must be obtained within one (1) year of appointment or hire.

•             A Grade II CWEA Mechanical Technologist certification must be obtained within two (2) years of appointment or hire.

•             A valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certificate must be obtained within one (1) year of employment.

•             Certification must be maintained to comply with Cal/OSHA requirements for classifications that perform duties involving confined space operations.

The Maintenance Mechanic II position is represented by the Operations & Maintenance Representation Unit/ Public Employees Union, Local 1/AFSCME Council 57, and shall be filled in accordance with the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding with Delta Diablo and applicable District procedures.

Following the close of the recruitment, a screening committee will evaluate the qualifications of each candidate who has met the minimum requirements for this position. Applicants meeting minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement to the examination.
