JUNIOR ENGINEER

Delta Diablo has career opportunities for exceptionally talented and motivated engineers to apply and further develop their technical design knowledge and broaden their project management and leadership skills. As a Junior Engineer, you will have the opportunity to perform a variety of engineering assignments related to wastewater conveyance/treatment, and resource recovery projects.

• Demonstrate initiative and be a self-starter eager to develop project management, engineering design, and construction management skills.

QUALIFICATIONS: A combination of training and experience which demonstrates that a person has obtained the required knowledge and is able to perform the required work (with reasonable accommodation, if needed). A person with the following combined training and experience would typically qualify to compete in a selection process:

EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field from a recognized college or university.

EXPERIENCE: No work experience is required.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Must be able to obtain certification as an Engineer-in-Training Certificate within 18 months of initial employment.

Additional Requirements: Must possess a valid California Driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. The Junior Engineer position is represented by the Local One AFSCME Council 57 Professional and Technical (P&T) Representation Bargaining Unit and shall be filled in accordance with the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding with Delta Diablo and applicable District procedures.

The Junior Engineer position is represented by the P&T Representation Bargaining Unit, Local One/AFSCME Council 57, and shall be filled in accordance with the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding with Delta Diablo and applicable District procedures.

Periodically until the available positions are filled or the District closes this recruitment process, a screening committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant who meets the minimum qualifications for this position. Applicants meeting minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement to the examination. Those candidates whose application indicates their experience and education are best suited to meet the current needs of the District will be invited to participate in the examination and/or interview process. The decision of the screening committee is final. The examination process for selected applicants may involve a written test, a skills performance test, and a oral interview.
