Hourly Salary: $ 19.66 – $ 23.89 

Customer Care Specialist II 

Hourly Salary: $ 22.83 – $ 27.75

The City of Corona has an exciting opportunity to join our Utilities Department as a Customer Care Specialist. At Corona’s Utilities Department, we strive to deliver the best customer service to all of our residents and businesses, with safety and reliability as our top priorities. The Utilities Department is comprised of five divisions including Water, Wastewater, Reclaimed Water, Electric and Solid Waste. Education/Training/Experience:  

  • Graduation from high school or G.E.D.
  • Customer Care Specialist I: One (1) year of customer service experience.
  • Customer Care Specialist II: Two (2) years of customer service experience.

Skills/Abilities 

  • Conduct account investigations, negotiate, and collect outstanding funds.
  • Check, post, balance, reconcile, and adjust accounting entries; examine and verify financial documents and reports.
  • Balance out cash drawers and total daily cash receipts.
  • Input and prepare clear and accurate data for records and reports.
  • Exercise tact, patience, and diplomacy in handling customer conflicts which may be emotional and volatile in nature.

This position is FLSA Non-Exempt, eligible for overtime compensation.

Application Process 

Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 5:00PM.  

The selection process will consist of a review and evaluation of all applicants’ qualifications. Those applicants deemed to possess the most desirable qualifications will be invited to participate in a written exam. Applicants with the highest passing scores will be invited to participate in the oral interview. The written exam is tentatively scheduled to take place on October 30, 2024 and the oral interview is tentatively scheduled to take place on November 12, 2024.     

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a reference / background /credit check including livescan and pass a pre-employment medical examination (which will include a drug/alcohol screening).

The Organization

The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policy making and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members. Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year.

 

The City is organized into the following departments/organizational units: Community Services, City Manager’s Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works and Utilities. Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and two Assistant City Managers.

 

The City’s total operating budget for Fiscal Year 2024 is $ 369.9 million with a General Fund operating budget of $ 194.5 million. Corona enjoys a workforce of 860 dedicated employees who provide high quality services to its residents and visitors each day.
