Building & Grounds Worker

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Salary Range: $5,348 – $7,567

JOB:

The Building & Grounds Worker, under general supervision, performs a variety of landscaping and grounds maintenance work and facilities maintenance, construction and repair activities on District facilities, properties and equipment; performs a full range of landscape and building maintenance and construction work as needed; and performs related work as assigned. This position is assigned to the Operations and Maintenance Department and reports to the Operations and Maintenance Supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education equivalent to completion of sufficient formal and/or informal education to ensure successful job performance, and two (2) years of experience performing facility and grounds maintenance and repairs that would provide the knowledge and skills listed in the job description. Further, it is required, to possess a valid Class C California Driver’s License during the course of employment. Must be physically capable of performing strenuous manual labor and lifting and carrying supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions (work is primarily performed outside a building); must be able to climb ladders and work at various heights; must be able to work in confined spaces and with exposure to potentially hazardous conditions; and be available for afterhours emergency work.
