THE CITY- The Elsinore Valley exists today because of water. Located in a desert region, early settlers made do with scarce local water resources. Life was hard. Today, the Valley is thriving. From its formation in 1950, EVMWD has worked to harness local water resources and provide customers with a safe, affordable water supply.

Set against the picturesque Ortega Mountains and Cleveland National Forest, where visitors and residents alike can enjoy hiking, biking, skydiving, hang-gliding, and numerous other recreational activities, Lake Elsinore is centrally located along the I-15 corridor, just 68 miles north of San Diego and 74 miles south of Los Angeles. At the center of the city is the 3,300 acre recreational lake, where adventurers can enjoy exciting water sports. The area is also known for its thermal winds that are perfect for aerial sports. Residents the City of Lake Elsinore enjoy a wealth of opportunity for outdoor activities, such as boating, hiking, mountain biking, and golfing. Spanning 41 square miles, the City of Lake Elsinore has a population of 51,000.

The City of Lake Elsinore is home to one of Riverside County's oldest school systems, and operates 14 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, 3 high schools and 4 alternative education schools, serving 21,000 students.

THE WATER EMPLOYEE SERVICES AUTHORITY-The Water Employee Services Authority (WESA) stands out as an exciting place to work. The Water Employee Services Authority is the employer of water and wastewater professionals that provide services to two water agencies (EVMWD and Meeks & Daley) in western Riverside County, California. The Water Employee Services Authority is recruiting for individuals who are looking for an opportunity to grow with us as we face exciting times in the water industry.

THE DEPARTMENT-The Water Resources Division is part of and supports the Engineering Department. Their primary duties include providing data collection and assessments of water quality from both the local and imported sources, planning for future sources of water and recycled water, and working with the regional water suppliers to plan for the current and future water needs of the District. The Division is also responsible for the water quality testing of the wastewater treatment plants to ensure that permit requirements are being met. This testing is done in a state-of-the-art water quality laboratory located next to the Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant.

THE POSITION- Under general supervision, ensures water system regulatory compliance; performs a variety of tasks associated with the planning and operations of the District's extensive water quality and related technical programs for raw water sources, collection, treatment, transmission, storage and distribution processes; maintains and operates the District's water/wastewater laboratory for microbiological and chemcial analysis; assists in developing and operating on-going programs in water/wastewater treatment evaluation and optimization, pilot plant studies, source water monitoring programs, sampling and laboratory analysis protocol development, contaminant monitoring and response, and engineering design projects.

QUALIFICATIONS- Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in chemistry, microbiology, environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field. Two years of experience in a water quality testing laboratory, field sampling, and/or water treatment plant or water distribution system. Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license. Possession of a Grade I Certificate in Laboratory Technology issued by the CWEA or AWWA within 18 months of employment.
